British high street retailer Topshop has confirmed that it is to open a permanent corner within Parisian department store Galeries Lafayette in October. The ‘shop-in-shop’ set-up will be located on the second floor and will span just under

1,900 square feet, which is five times the size of its trial pop-up it housed in the department store earlier this year.

The
space will house the brand’s clothing, accessories and make-up lines, as well as its Unique collection, which showcases at London Fashion Week, and will be similar to its set-up in Selfridges here in the UK and Nordstrom in America.

The brand trailed a 375 square foot store within Galeries Lafayette’s Boulevard Haussmann flagship back in February, selling a limited selection of it Spring/Summer 2013 collection, and has decided to extend its offering and make the luxury department store its permanent home in Paris.

The launch of the store was originally scheduled for September, according to French newspaper Le Figaro, but the opening has been postponed to early October to allow time to complete the construction work.

News of Topshop’s permanent Paris store follows confirmation last month that the British retailer is expanding into Germany with a similar partnership with fashion chain Karstadt, which will see the brand opening in Berlin, Munich, Düsseldorf and Hamburg, and the announcement that the fashion store is returning to the Netherlands within Amsterdam’s de Bijenkorf department store.

The retailer, which is keen to accelerate its growth abroad, has also this year opened its first store in China in Hong Kong and launched its fourth flagship store in America in Los Angeles. This follows last year’s impressive international expansion, which saw the British retailer opening stores in Australia, Brazil and South Africa.

Its expansion plans, which reportedly includes eyeing up further locations in mainline China, as well as on the West Coast of America, has been aided by Arcadia boss Sir Philip Green selling a 25 percent stake to US private equity firm Leonard Green & Partners last year. Topshop currently has more than 300 stores in the UK as well as 100 internationally.
