German lingerie brand Triumph is planning to make its debut in the United States in the fall. This move marks a new phase in the company’s international expansion strategy. "Introducing ourselves to the discerning American consumer and

treating her to the perfect cutting edge designs, impeccable fit and excelling quality of our lines is a natural further development in making our brand available and accessible to women around the globe," commented Markus Spiesshofer, Triumph CEO, managing partner and member of one the founding families.

expand to US-American market

The company was founded in 1886 by corsetier Johann Gottfried Spiesshofer and merchant Michael Braun in Heubach, southern Germany, with just six employees. Today, the company is headquartered in Bad Zurzach, Switzerland and has become one of the world’s largest underwear manufacturers with 35,000 employees worldwide and an annual turnover of 2 billion Swiss francs (2011; 1.6 billion euro).

Triumph started expanding into other countries under the name ‘Triumph International’ in 1953 and entered the UK and Ireland already in 1964. The brands Triumph, Sloggi, Valisère and Hom are sold in more than 120 countries worldwide. The company currently operates over 2,100 stores, of which more than 800 are own stores and 450 are franchises. After focusing on Europe – Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg in particular – Triumph is now ready to bring its line of lingerie and shape wear to US consumers but has not yet revealed any details regarding initial investment, store openings and other arrangements.
