Versace’s sister label Versus has revealed that it is teaming up with sportswear brand K-Way for its next collaborative collection. Following on from Versus’ collaboration with J.W. Anderson, which is set to be unveiled in New York this week,

Donatella Versace revealed in a video talking about the revamped label that its next project would be with K-Way, a brand known for its brightly coloured pac-a-mac style waterproof jackets.

The
reposition of Versus was announced last year after the departure of Christopher Kane, who left to concentrate on his eponymous label, and will revolve around one-off collaborations rather than working seasonally with one creative director.

Donatella Versace also hinted in the video that a “rock star” may collaborate with the label, due to her love of music and the rebellious nature of the brand. She also said that she may never hold another Versus catwalk show again, that the label will have a digital emphasis and collaborations will be launched at events that will be accompanied by live music.

"It's getting really old to go to a fashion show, to sit down and then to go on the internet and think; 'What did they do? What didn't they do?' I will never have another catwalk show again for Versus," she said. "Versus will be shown through events all over the world. I started with New York because it was where Versus was born. I always connect Versus to rock music, because I love music, I'm a music addict - and we never have a soundtrack or a DJ, it's always a live band performing for a Versus show."

The Italian fashion designer also discussed her love for Versus, adding it’s “the first collection my brother Gianni gave to me in complete freedom to do”.

When discussing the digital aspect of the project, she admitted that it was scary to open herself up to the Internet community, saying that it is “easier to be protected in your studio by your PR and your designers and people to take care of you.” But the designer did confirmed “I really, really like this digital world”, adding that she feels that the internet community has a “good eye” for fashion.

The first collection, Versus Versace with J.W. Anderson, is set to launch on May 15 with an event in New York and will comprised of 26 looks, including men’s and women’s ready to wear and accessories.
