Zalando launches sports division

Online shoe and fashion retailer Zalando, is launching Zalando Sports for sportswear and equipment online. With the introduction, Zalando is further building on its shoes and fashion portfolio internationally. Zalando Sports will offer a selection

of over 100 international brands featuring the latest sports gear and high quality equipment. The assortment ranges from high quality running shoes, hiking boots and training outfits to performance bags, dumbells and rackets for tennis, badminton and squash. Brands include Puma, Adidas, Nike, Reebok, Asics, Oakley, K-Swiss, Head, Viking, Ellesse, Saucony and Mizuno. Similar to Zalando, the sports site also has free shipping, service line and 30 day return policy.

Recently, Zalando decided to launch a separate premium shop in the UK after it launch in Germany at the beginning of the year. On the launch of the premium shop Zalando said:

“Zalando has launched a separate premium section (it’s accessible via the main navigation of zalando.co.uk) to extend the offer to another segment and reach a new customer base. Moreover, Zalando wants to inspire existing customers and offer them a new, more exclusive range featuring exciting designer labels that are often hard to get in regular high street shops.”

Headquarted in Berlin, Robert Gentz and David Schneider launched the company in 2008. After Germany, Zalando is also available in Austria since 2009, the Netherlands and France in 2010. This year, Italy and the UK followed.
