AIFW: Fashion platform WinterSalon

Whilst Amsterdam International Fashion Week (AIFW) is looking to improve the professional level of the Dutch fashion event, new showcases are popping up to offer designers a matching platform. New public initiative WinterSalon/ coincided with AIFW and presented designers and artists with a fashion affiliation at several locations spread over Amsterdam.
Salon/ started last season and demonstrates how fashion transcends borders and cultures by showing how this discipline is in fact an attitude, a vision and not defined by a generation or certain style. The many contributors, including Vivian Sassen, United Nude and Lernert&Sander, are a 'collection' of people with creative desires, vision and passion for their profession.
With this initiative, Salon/ wants to give a new impulse to the current fashion culture in the Netherlands. Salon/ is the brainchild of art historian and publisher Gijs Stork, founder and owner of CMK1 Cathal McKee, and creative director Manon Schaap.
The fashion exhibition is extended until this Thursday at Droog, Museum van Loon, Amsterdam Museum, Tropenmuseum and Huize Frankedael.
