Antoni & Alison returns to catwalk

London Fashion Week started on Friday with a return to the catwalk from design duo Antoni & Alison, who are celebrating their 25th anniversary. The autumn/winter 2012 collection, Models Walking Up and Down in Dresses, was their first time runway show since leaving the LFW schedule in 2005 preferring to do creative presentations, such as last season when they opened up their studio and gave private tours.

The collection or performance as the announcer called it was a filled with simply cut dresses, featuring eccentric prints such as brown paper bags, cellophane, feathers, glitter and sequins; and keeping with their manifesto to portray a raw idea in its simplest form, the models all sported short dark crops to allow the dresses to shine through.

One of the highlights from the collection had to be the slip-on tuxedo maxi dress, complete with a felt-tip bowtie and sew-on lapels.
