The Boxing Day sales got off to an early start, with shoppers queuing as early as 2am get their most wanted items and discount prices.

Retailers up and down the country have slashed prices and opened as early as 6am in a bid to entice shoppers to part with their cash, noted the Daily Mail, with a record 10 million shoppers expected to spend an estimated 3 billion pounds, or conversely 4.8 million pounds a minute, in stores today alone.

This is will be bolstered by around 500 million pounds in online sales, analysts predict.

Eager shoppers stormed the high street giants and departments stores. Selfridges 1.5 million pounds across its fours stores in the first hour of trading alone.
