French icon Charlotte Gainsbourg has taken on a new role: fashion designer. The actress, model and songwriter has teamed up with premium denim label Current/Elliott to launch a capsule collection. The new collaborative line is set to last for four seasons, beginning with fall.
“For me, denim has always been a fabric that can take on the personality of the person who wears it,” explains Gainsbourg, who has used denim throughout out her debut collection.
However, the collection is not limited to denim jeans and jackets, but also includes key pieces such as tailored wool suits, knitwear and t-shirts, which reflect the new designer own personal style.
The debut fall collection consists of 40 pieces, with prices ranging from 250 euros for jeans to 2,000 for a leather jacket. Gainsbourg will also be the face for the campaign of the new collections.
“She is a real talent - working with Charlotte just felt natural,” said Serge Azria, CEO and creative director of Current/Elliott to British Vogue. “We both wanted to create something special, not a large line; the best shirt, the best jean, the best jacket.”
The capsule collection first launched at Colette's, and is set to launch in stores and online at Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Net-A-Porter later this week.
