This week the Brooklyn Museum launched an exhibition dedicated to the high heeled shoe, highlighting the most impressive designs of our time, alongside shoes from through the ages.

Titled Killer Heels: The Art of the High-Heeled Shoe, on show are shoes from the era of the wooden chopine, worn by the people of Venice in the 17th century, to Prada's flame heels for Spring/Summer 2012, or the Novashoe created by architect Zaha Hadid.

The exhibition showcases in depth high-heel history with some of the world's most legendary of shoes. Comprising of 160 pairs of heels, from the platform to the stiletto heel, via the wedge and the skyscraper, each reflecting an artistic vision or progress of an era.

The exhibition runs until February 15th at the Brooklyn Museum, New York.
