For the first time in its history, luxury department store Harrods is inviting its customers to design one of its ‘world famous shop windows’ as part of its Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Customers have until April 19, to create a mood board inspired by a Queen's Diamond Jubilee Street Party theme, using online image pinboard website Pinterest, with the winning board being brought to life next month as a Harrods window display by the store's award-winning Visual Merchandising team.

Harrods, which has a dedicated social media team, is also utilising its reach on Twitter and Facebook within this competition, as in order for consumers to submit their entries they will need to Tweet the board to @HarrodsofLondon, and include the hashtag #HarrodsWindows. Then Harrods' Store Image Director, Mark Briggs, will select a shortlist of three mood boards from the submissions which will be posted on Harrods Facebook page, allowing fans to vote for their favourite entry.

This unique competition is not only aimed at grabbing the attention of its creative customers, but it will no doubt increase their followers on Pinterest, which currently only stands at 879 followers, in comparison to having more than 100,000 followers on Twitter, and over 200,000 ‘likes’ on Facebook.
