Luxury department store Harvey Nichols has created a special 3D wool installation wrapped around its Knightsbridge store to celebrate Wool Week.

The installation features a huge ball of yarn, oversized knitted needles, as well as more than 100 metres of illuminated wool, which has been wrapped around the store, creating an eye-catching display.

Commenting on the project, Jo Dawson, Chief Executive of H. Dawson Wool, who donated the wool, said: “We are delighted to be involved in such a prestigious and show-stopping event during Wool Week 2012. Being able to wrap wool around such an iconic building as the Harvey Nichols flagship store in London is proof that wool remains at the cutting edge of fashion and can be used in the most innovative of ways."

In addition to the outside installation, Harvey Nichols is further supporting The Campaign for Wool with their involvement in the ‘Wool School’ initiative. The scheme created to encourage young designers to use wool has seen fashion, textiles and design students across the country competed to design wool sweaters to be sold in 12 top UK retail stores including Pringle, DAKS, Paul Smith and Harvey Nichols, with 5 percent of the sales being fed back into fashion education programmes.

Harvey Nichols has selected Brighton University textiles graduate, Tegan Kersey, as their winner, and her design has been produced by Crumpet, and retails at 160 Pounds.

Wool Week runs until October 21.
