Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris opened last night with the Atelier Versace Couture show, which featured Dontella Versace's signature compelling gowns which combine the right amount of grace, beauty and sex appeal.
The show featured thirty-two hand stitched gowns, in a wide array of silks, satins, suede and delicate embroidery. Nude corsets teamed with cleverly placed stitching and designs, defined waist lines paired with asymmetrical fabric draping and with glamorous hoods were a displayed throughout the show. “I love to combine the traditions of couture with the daring of contemporary life,” said Dontella before the show began. “I like a woman to look controlled and elegant, but also for her to have a provocative attitude,” something that was reinforced with her sensual corsets and dresses.
Grace Jones was honored as Donatella's inspiration for the Spring/Summer 14 collection, and the sensuous dominating evening wear that was present throughout the collection was another reminder for the upcoming award season where haute couture designs are featured on another catwalk, namely the red carpet.
