Iconic 'Zodiac' jacket sold

A highly coveted couture piece, the 'Zodiac' jacket from the Astrology Winter collection 1938-39 from Italian designer Elsa Schiaparelli was recently sold this week for 110.000 pounds during an auction held at Kerry Taylor Auctions in London (132.000 pounds including premium).

The midnight navy blue dinner jacket is covered in embroidered shooting stars, planets and signs of the zodiac by Paris based Maison Lesage. In 1938, Schiaparelli was inspired by astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli, who also happened to be her uncle, and created her Astrology themed collection.

Kerry Taylor Auctions revealed that there were a number of bidders eager to win the coveted jacket and were privileged to have dealt with such a beautiful couture garment.
