Luxury brands have long catered to their affluent customer's pets, but now the high street has caught on. After the pink pound, grey pound and green pound, John Lewis has discovered the hound pound.

John Lewis is to launch a 253 piece pet range, which will offer fashion, accessories and bedding for cats and dogs.

In numbers, the UK pet market is worth nearly 3 billion pounds per annum with accessories worth of 500 million pounds. The company says its pet retail business has grown 18 percent in the past 5 years.
