French designer Jean Paul Gaultier is adding a new kidswear line to his collection, Junior Gaultier Couture, inspired by his adult haute couture collection.

Launching for Spring/Summer 2014, the childrenswear line for girls will be updated every six months, and will include pint-size editions of the designer’s popular regular-size couture pieces.

The starting point of the new collection was the Indian-inspired finale dress from the Spring/Summer 2013 collection. However, unlike the original that took more than 60 hours to complete, the girls’ couture version features a silk bodice and tulle skirt teamed with a Swarovski encrusted buttons up the back.

The dress costs 850 euros and will be available in two colours, ivory and coral, and will be limited to 90 of each colour theme.

The new range complements the fashion houses’ successful junior ready-to-wear line.
