For Autumn/Winter 2014, Turkish designer Bora Aksu was inspired by his mother, her life as a teenager at board school, and used the letters she wrote to friends and her drawings as the starting point for his collection.

It was romantic, feminine, with a hint of nostalgia with the models strutting down the catwalk with ribboned plaits to showcase the schoolgirl within a 50s uniform shape of lace knee-length skirts, dainty jackets, peter pan collars and woven knits.

There was also a lightness to the designs as well as a soft and girlie colour palette, which was sometimes more reminiscent of spring or suitable for countries with much warmer climates than London.

Highlights included the combination of lace and leather, the sheer detailing that showcased sequins underneath, and the eye-catching mustard yellow dresses.
