Turkish-born designer Bora Aksu showcased a spring/summer 2015 collection dominated by feminine details including lace, appliqué and cut-out work on silks, tulles, and organza separates and playful dresses.

Inspired by the delicacy of paper dolls and the grace and power of ballerina Maria Taglioni, the SS15 ‘A Dancer With Wings’ collection was centred around romance and innocence that was showcased by the feather-light feel of the pieces in a colour palette of nudes and white, which was in contrast to the dancer’s darker side that was represented by textured knotting crochet techniques, in black, cobalt and lilac blues tones.

As always with Bora Aksu, the highlight is always his attention to detail, his signature romantic nature, and his ability to make fairytales seem modern. One of the most striking pieces had to be the full-length purple dress with crochet and cotton embroidery detailing.

The collection also unveiled the designer’s first eyewear collaboration with TD Tom Davies, which features the dragonfly motif that is used to represent Taglioni’s life in the hand-made embroideries and crochets.
