Designer Alice Temperely showcased a more wearable collection during London Fashion Week for Autumn/Winter 2014 with layered daywear separates, tailoring and suiting taking centre stage.

Unlike previous collections filled with ballgowns and red carpet creations, this season it was all about the Temperley London woman by day, with sexier shorter lengths to the dresses featuring ornate patterns reminiscent of tile work seen in Spanish cathedrals that inspired the designer, and a lot of outerwear options from quilted cropped jackets to textured Jacquard and A-line swing coats.

The eveningwear options were still present with highlights being a floor-length crystal-embellished nude evening dress, an embellished halter neck black satin gown with a dramatic thigh split, and a striped stitch work and crystal embroidered high next top paired with a matching intricate long evening skirt.

The designer also used the show to raise awareness for the Somerset Emergency Flood Relief Fund Appeal. She asked the audience to Tweet the hashtag #Floodsupport to raise the profile of the appeal, and linked the charity information on her brand’s website for visitors to donate to the effort.

On the appeal card left on everyone’s seats, the designer said: “Somerset and the West Country has been hit by the worst disaster in its history. Thousands of people and animals displaced by terrible flooding with some villages under deep water for 6 weeks.

“I would like to give you this charity’s link through our website to support in any way you can.”
