As part of its celebration for the brands 140th anniversary, Lyle & Scott will be teaming up with David Keyte, who is the founder of the workwear label Universal Works to design a capsule collection. Ketye, who has previously worked with the likes of Paul Smith and Maharishi before starting his own label, used to be a fan of the classic Lyle & Scott knits and revealed in a recent interview that he was “delighted to re-live the early love of the brand.”
Richard Martin, brand director at Lyle & Scott believes that Universal Works brand DNA is very similar to that of Lyle & Scott, both brands honor their British Heritage in their own unique ways. In an interview with Port Magazine he said: “David really liked what we were doing with the 1960 collection and off the back of that interest we started discussing his time as a casual in the late 70s and early 80s, and how important Lyle & Scott was to that movement.”
The capsule collection will consist of 11 pieces and include knitwear, flannel shirts and polo shirts with a few woolen accessories. Keyte took inspiration for the collection from his memories of vintage sweaters with a modern twist. The collection is set to be revealed during a presentation at London Collections Show next week and Capsule in Paris which runs from January 17 to 19, according to WWD.
