New York-based shoe designer Matt Bernson has collaborated with Edun to produce a handmade shoe collection as part of the socially conscious brand’s spring/summer 2013 story of Urban Camouflage Prints and Etched Florals.
An innovator in the footwear industry, Bernson is famed for his “downtown-meets-the-beach aesthetic”, and for Edun he has developed six classic styles using Kenyan tenting canvas as seen in the brand’s spring/summer 2013 collection.
Merging Edun’s cool girl aesthetic and expertise in African sourcing was a driving force behind the range of shoes, which includes traditional ballet flats, smoking slippers, sandals with a low wedges, platforms with a woven wedge and booties with a cut-out heel.
The collection was made by artisans in the Bombalulu workshop in Kenya and is schedule to launch in March 2013, with prices starting from 120 Pounds.
