As seen in London and Paris, the trend for strong outerwear, bold new pattens and sport-inspired tailoring will be a continuing theme next season.
In Paris particularly, florals were confirmed as next summer's strongest print trend, as well as the more graphic looks of placed stripes, simple chevrons or the more random appeal of textural, abstract all-overs and playful novelty logo placements. In Milan too, designers including Gucci and Prada featured interesting blooms and Hawaii-esque prints.
In Milan new fabric developments and construction detailing were seen on the catwalk at brands like Zegna, where bonded fabrics, laser cutting and heat-fusing was a key element. Milan was also a strong season for casual jacket developments with an deconstructed sportswear feel.
In London the shows highlighted the importance of casualwear, and tailoring took a back seat over a more relaxed dress code. New wider boxy shapes updated the classic blazer, occasionally given a more playful feel when layered over printed shirts or t-shirting. Oversized shorts were worn with classic shirts or utility outerwear.
Colour trends throughout the cities included ink tones, navy, berry colours, and greys. Optic white was also seen as were injections of pop colours like blush pink and fluo blue.
