It was Raf Simons' final show for Jil Sander, and the looks on the catwalk summed up his contribution to house, whose heritage lies in the minimalism, innovation and most important of all, quality.

Dual cashmere wrap jackets in soft pinks, nudes and reds brought a striking and romantic elegance to the collection. Ankle-length skirts and fitted polonecks made a return, albeit in light and techno fabrications, with cut-away pvc inserts. For evening, black bustier dresses with hip detailing, bows and more of the pvc inserts, made for a very credible exit for the Belgian designers.

Rumours of a post at YSL or Dior have the fashion world guessing, but an announcement seems imminent. Back stage Simons banned journalists after the show, so that there would be no talk of his next move.
