MFW: Prada AW13

The wet-look hair, the off-the shoulder dresses, the film noir backdrop, all added to a sumptuous Prada show that was one of Miuccia Prada's best collections in seasons.
While at Prada there is always a story with a subversive undertone, the collection when at its best is cohesive, aspirational and beautiful at the same time. For fall, the look was checked tweed tailoring; oversized coats - deliciously worn over a sequined dress; half done up belted cardigans over dresses that slipped off the shoulder.
The collection resonated with basic, real clothes, but executed in the most luxurious way. A woman in need of a winter wardrobe, but with crocodile coats and golden belts.
Whilst there were plenty of references on show from the Prada archives, there was newness and relevance, like asymmetrical hems on skirts and dresses and the focus on coats with oversized and upturned cuffs, opulently trimmed in fur.
