London-born designer Paul Surridge, the new creative helm at Z Zegna, forged a breath of fresh air with his first collection for the brand. A masculine colour palette of taupe, green, navy and greys were shown in a collection that befitted the modern urbanite.

Choosing modern fabrics for outerwear, such as techno nylons, casual sportswear was made relevant with sleek lines and new silhouettes. Hoodies are no longer ghetto-chic, or indeed just the look of the street, it is also befitted of a modern gentleman's wardrobe.

Knitwear came in a plethora of variations with half zips and paneled trims, muddy and aquatic colours colours and digital prints. The tailoring felt sharp, but not garish, and the double breasted jackets would suit a formal look as much as it could be worn over a pair of jeans.

All in all a great debut for Z Zegna.
