MARNI Urban folk is a common theme at Marni, who in the final days of Milan Fashion Week showed a sport luxe collection. Two-tone neoprene dresses and separates opened the show, but the sporty shapes were new and slighty exaggerated, making for a fresh silhouette. Marni is not a house that shies away from bold colour or prints, and there were flashes of crimson, tie-dye and organic geometrics amongst the more neutral palette. Chunky hardware added a utility edge and there was plenty of luxe with fur coats and peplum corsets.

MISSONI It was 70s wallpaper colours on the Missoni AW14 catwalk. Chocolate brown, burnt orange, yellow and beiges and swirls of sea green and turquise. It was a very colourful collection that cleverly deconstructed the house zigzag motif to new shapes and graphics. The silhouette was generally straight, with the focus on full skirts, which came in pretty intarsia colours or chevron stripes. Shift dresses were a key item, worn on their own or with cocooning coats.

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO Sophisticated is the word that sums up this collection. Ferragamo is a label renowned for its quality, elegance and timelessness. These are not pieces likely to be on any editor's trend list, but there were some lovely styles nonetheless like luxurious ponchos, that came with high funnel necklines. Blanket plaids, metallic knits and cashmere sweaters were simple and chic, exactly what this Florentine house is known for.

GIORGIO ARMANI The king of grey and beige added a new hue to his palette and this season it was lime. Known for his deconstructed workwear suits, his signature loose tailoring came in fitted blazers and loose trousers. Asymmetry was another theme, seen on the bodice of a column dress or a jacket closure. These jackets came either boxy or long. A bandeau top worn with an ankle length chiffon skirt was a signature Armani look.
