Even though the British luxury label lost its former head of design, Emma Hill, over a year ago, Mulberry has launched a new handbag line. Known as Tessie, the handbag collection sits at a lower price range than the rest of the label's regular collection.

The Tessie collection is the first line to be introduced that enforces the label's new scheme to create more affordable handbags and accessories. The collection comprises of four main handbags styles; hobo, clutch, tote and satchel, all made from quality soft-grain leather. The styles are available in five colors and range from 495 pounds for a small satchel to 695 for a hobo handbag.

“The Tessie collection was inspired by the effortless practicality of our early collections, when each new bag was created with a use in mind,” said a representative from Mulberry to Vogue UK. “We think the styles are both classic and practical, each finished with belt buckle and strap detailing that references our early design signatures.”

Mulberry previously revealed plans to introduce lower priced handbags this April, after issuing its second profit warning in three months. Before Mulberry's former CEO Bruno Guillon exited the company in March, he decided to increase the quality, leather and price of the label's handbag to increase its exclusivity. But his plan backfired and resulted in the value of Mulberry's company shares dropping by 67 percent.
