In 1947 Christian Dior presented his first show in the private salons of Avenue Montaigne. Then aged 42, the designer showcased feminine and elegant silhouettes, with nipped in waists and full skirts. It was the birth of the New Look, a new way of dressing that greatly contrasted the austerity of the war years before.
Revolutionizing the world of fashion, Christian Dior continued to produce innovative and creative designs until his death some ten years later.
For her research, journalist Natasha Fraser-Cavassoni revisited the early years of the French fashion house with first-hand accounts, archived documents and uncovering over 150 unseen images.
From the great actresses of the time, iconic models such as Bettina, to loyal customers and the workshop assistants, the luxurious and inimitable world of the House of Christian Dior was an inspiration to many.
The book will be published on October 15 and cost 60 euros.
