Fashion designer Chris Benz has become the first US designer to collaborate with the British start-up Cambridge Satchel Company. The range of limited edition satchels were presented during New York Fashion Week and were an integral part of Chris Benz’s spring/summer 2013 collection.

The new shape satchel was presented in nine colours ranging from soft pastel shades like lilac and duck egg to statement colours including red and tangerine, and each feature a white front pocket. The new design was inspired by Benz’s love of the “carefree personal style of Lee Krasner, Elaine de Kooning and Jean Stafford” and they also feature a detachable strap, and a magnetic closure.

This is the latest designer collaboration for the British accessories brand, Julie Deane, founder of the Cambridge Satchel Company, has previously worked with Basso and Brooke, Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garcons, and Christopher Shannon.

Talking about the partnership, Deane said: "We are so excited to be working with Chris Benz for our first US design collaboration. With his signature colours, textures and prints, he is a perfect partner for the Cambridge Satchel Company.

“The Chris Benz girl is fun, flirty and fashionable and is sure to love this new Cambridge Satchel + Chris Benz collection of classics with a new twist.”
