NYFW: Richard Chai Love AW14

There was an unmistakable reference to Hedi Slimane, who has inspired many brands with his luxury grunge collections for Saint Laurent.

Richard Chai took note and opted for glam grunge; a collection that was all about layering and tailored separates.

A beige, double-breasted wool coat was one of the show's highlights, which mostly consisted of two types of looks, a trouser or dress worn with a jacket. Outerwear came as biker jackets, blazers or coats, the latter not proving very grunge but perhaps that is where the glam came in.

Whilst there was interesting fabric juxtaposing and prints that came in the form of stripes and florals, they didn't exude enough personality to be impactful.
