French lifestyle brand Petit Bateau is teaming up with Belgian fashion designer Cédric Charlier on a collaborative collection for women, men and girls launching in December.
The 10-piece capsule line draws upon Petit Bateau's iconic nautical stripes, as well as Charlier’s imaginative and contemporary style, to produce a collection featuring bold colours and painted lines juxtaposed with straight stripes in a new range of widths.
The line for men, women and girls, aged 4 to 10, will premiere on December 6 at Petit Bateau’s concept stores, The Broken Arm in Paris, 10 Corso Como in Milan and Hunting and Collecting in Brussels, before rolling out to other select stores, including in the UK, and online on December 13. Prices will start from 60 euros.
To launch the collaboration, the French brand has tapped photographer Alfredo Piola to capture the lively collection and highlight its celebration of movement with a zero gravity shoot that features dancers executing a variety of daring acrobatic feats.
"Petit Bateau is a cheeky brand, both in terms of colours and products, and he managed to convey that inspiration and that spirit,” Patrick Pergament, chief executive officer of Petit Bateau, told WWD. "In periods of crisis and hardship, people still want and need cheerful things."
Petit Bateau has done numerous designer collaborations including a collection with Christian Lacroix and the Paris Opera last year, and earlier this year with Finnish designer, Satu Maaranen.
