PFW: Alexander McQueen AW11

Showing in La Conciergerie, Marie Antoinette's prison site, Sarah Burton injected the Alexander McQueen label with a sense of serenity this season.

For fall, the "icy" collection embraced tweeds, pleats and fur that lined hems, cuffs, and shoulder seams. The material wrapped the skirt of a drop-waist halterneck dress or swathed the hood of a sleeveless sheath. And when it wasn't fur, it was frayed, raw-edge chiffon that blurred the lines.

With the recent revelation that Vogue editor editor Alexandra Shulman recommended Alexander McQueen to design Kate Middleton's wedding dress, the show was definitely fit for a princess.
