River Island is launching a capsule T-shirt line in collaboration with War Child to support the charity’s efforts in protecting children from the brutal effects of war.

The exclusive “Come Together” T-shirt is an exact replica of the one that John Lennon wore when pictured with his wife Yoko Ono in 1971, which has been donated under license for this project by Worn Free, a California-based T-shirt company that specialises in re-creating clothing that famous musicians once wore.

"We are excited and honoured to join forces with a charity that has already cemented such a sterling reputation," said River Island's CEO Ben Lewis. "Through this exclusive partnership, we hope to not only utilise our resources as a retail leader to raise awareness of War Child and their cause, but also to support innocent children caught up in terrible wars worldwide."

The T-shirt goes on sale in selected River Island stores and online from May and will be available in two colours in men’s, women’s and children’s styles. Prices start at 8 pounds for children to 18 pounds for adult sizes.

"We hope people will wear these stylish T-shirts with pride, not just for the connection to a true musical legend, but as a message of peace and support to change the lives of innocent children caught in war," added Ben Knowles, director of music, marketing and communications at War Child.
