For the new autumn season, Selfridges has launched a creative project called ‘The Masters’, an exploration of the originators, pioneers and provocateurs that shape the fashion landscape.

The masters are defined as champions of their craft and true fashion icons, and will showcase exclusive archival pieces to bespoke fashion films.

These masters consist of: Azzedine Alaïa, The Master of Architecture, Dries Van Noten, The Master of the Eclectic, Jean Paul Gaultier, The Master of Expression, Jun Takahashi of Undercover, The Master of Subversion, Marc Jacobs, The Master of Mood, Oscar de la Renta, The Master of Elegance, Paul Smith, The Master of Inspiration, Rick Owens, The Master of the Elements, Roberto Cavalli, The Master of Glamour, Thom Browne, The Master of Showmanship. Stella McCartney, The Master of Modernity. Yohji Yamamoto, The Master of Defiance.

As part of the Masters campaign, Selfridges has collaborated with Master of the Elements, Rick Owens, to launch ‘The World of Rick Owens’, marking 20 years since the inception of the designer’s world-renowned fashion label.

Taking over the London Concept Store, the world of Rick will encompass an exclusive 20 piece collection created exclusively for Selfridges including a specially commissioned 25 foot Rick Owens statue that will sit above the iconic Selfridges London canopy.
