Department store Debenhams has launched a menswear jacket that features built-in headphones, speakers, a microphone, and a control system, designed by Communiqué Vox.

The coat combines a quilted design with a top-of-the-range sound system that is not only fully wearable but also machine washable, and the connector point in the pocket allows the wearer to connect their portable music devise or mobile phone.

Designed to conceal a smartphone or music player, the system allows users to skip, pause, play music as well as answer and hang up calls via the control system on the sleeve of the coat, and to avoid tangled earphone cables the system has been wired through the jacket and hidden in the collar.

Commenting on the new design, Paul Baldwin, Head of Menswear Buying said: “We are thrilled to be offering such an innovative product to our customers. The range incorporates fashion, technology and practicality at a competitive price.

“It is the perfect, safety conscious way to conceal gadgets whilst still being able to freely use them in public, it’s the must have item for any commuter.”

Peter Layzell from Communiqué Vox added: “The C.VOX range has been created to push the boundaries in functional technology and fashion. We look forward to developing and launching new clothing lines with the latest innovations and trends for the coming seasons.”
