Specsavers has teamed up with Swedish fashion label Cheap Monday to launch a new eyewear frame collection.

The fashion label has created 17 frame styles for both prescription glasses and sunglasses which are said to compliment their wears outfit and mood, like a fashion accessory. Specsavers previously teamed up with fashion labels such as Spijkers and Spijkers and Karl Lagerfeld to launch exclusice eyewear designs.

Aadland Stølen, who is sales-marketing coordinator for the eyewear frame collection from Cheap Monday told FashionUnited why they chose to work with Specsavers for their eyewear collection: "We have the same price philosophy. We both want eyewear frames to become a fashion accessories and in order to achieve this, the price range is crucial. Glasses are normally quite expensive, so most consumers do not seem then as a fashion accessory. They buy a pair every three years, and tend to select a boring model."

The designs come in a number of styles and was inspired by the nineties wave of grunge. The edges are rough and angular, with frames made to look matte rather than glossy. "Cheap Monday was originally a denim and jeans brand. Our glasses are designed to be worn like a pair of jeans, the frames just get better with wear," added Stølen. Each frame features a logo detailing on the side and the hidden inscription: 'Open your third eye.'

The eyewear collection is currently available at Specsavers stores in the UK for 99 pounds, and are included in Specsavers two for one offer.
