As part of the new Art & Fashion collection, Swiss watch and jewellery maker Swatch has launched a collaboration with Chinese fashion designer, Uma Wang.
The two watches designed by Uma convey her love of contrasting textures and materials, which is evident in the watches mix of embroidered textile and plastic surfaces, and there is also a message about contemporary identity and the eternal nature of time itself.
The Central Saint Martin’s graduate launched her eponymous label in 2005, fusing advanced knitting techniques with subtle detailing, and has presented her collections in London, Milan, Paris and Shanghai.
Talking about her collaboration Wang said: “Swatch to me represents attitude, creativity, energy, and style. Overall, I wanted to communicate my personal passions, inspirations, and heritage.
“Even though I am Chinese, I didn’t want the collection to be necessarily or literally ‘Chinese’; I wanted to creative something more primal.”
The collaborative collection hits stores this month and the watches will be priced £44.50 each.
