River Island has teamed up with Bandai’s art and craft toy range, Harumika and created the world’s smallest catwalk to showcase the upcoming looks from the retailer’s Chelsea Girl autumn/winter 2012 collection.

The miniature collection features 10 outfits created by fashion designer Christina Ruby Walton in two weeks under the guidance of the River Island Chelsea Girl design team. The designs were then showcased on 21-cm-high mannequins and on a one-metre-long rotating runway.

The one-off partnership highlights all the same intricate designs, fabrics, colourways as the full-sized collection, from the same fluffy jumpers, faux fur coats, tapestry bombers, and crochet lace maxi skirts, the range also includes miniature accessories including a silver sequinned satchel and tortoise-shell bag.

Commenting on the fashion first, Chelsea Girl Senior Designer, Lucy Moller, said: "Chelsea Girl is a quirky, fun and youthful brand, so the opportunity to create a playful fashion first with Harumika was a perfect fit. We're overwhelmed with the skill that Christina has used to miniaturise our designs so accurately, creating a truly innovative way of displaying our new collection."
