Japanese high street retailer Uniqlo has finally launched its debut childrenswear line catering for newborns up to children aged 12.

The label known for its go-to basics for women and men, has created a collection of its signature styles including down jackets, skinny jeans and fleece parkas, which have been "adjusted to fit a kid's lifestyle".

For instance, the outerwear all come with name labels sewn into the interior of garments to avoid mix ups at school, the brand has included hooks for easy hanging, as well as adjustable waist bands on the trousers and the retailer has even incorporated “special sewing techniques” to prevent tearing on pockets.

"We are extremely pleased to be launching kids into the UK market this season," said Dr Berndt Hauptkom, Uniqlo Europe CEO. "The collection encapsulates the high quality design aesthetic and innovative fabrics that Uniqlo uses across all its collections, and we are confident the collection will be a success among both current and new Uniqlo customers."

The collection debut online earlier this week, ahead of its store roll out from Friday, August 23. Prices range from between 5.90 and 49.90 pounds.
