Inspired by the designer’s archived designs, the Red Carpet Collection, features five-pieces based on the Westwood’s signature hourglass silhouettes and includes the famous squiggle print from her autumn/winter 1981 Pirate line.
Brigitte Stepputtis, Vivienne Westwood head of couture, said: “This collection uses some beautiful existing styles from our archive and allowed us to introduce new silhouettes to our customers. The collection is really classic and elegant as it incorporates the best of Vivienne’s designs then and now.
“Vivienne wanted to create a very feminine and playful collection so we have reworked the iconic squiggle print on a vibrant colour palette printed on fine silk crepes and taffetas and added bust and bottom darts to accentuate the female form.”
The partywear collection, which will be exclusive to Matchesfashion.com, features fitted cocktail dresses and full-length draped gowns in fine silk-crepes and taffetas printed with a reworking of her iconic squiggle print in pink, monochrome and caramel hues.
