The Spanish fashion group has started the process of merging its U, AD + and Adolfo Domínguez brands under a single logo (Adolfo Domínguez) with the transformation of approximately 115 points of sale.

"From autumn of this year, all the collections and points of sale of the firm will be concentrated under the banner ADOLFO DOMINGUEZ, which absorbs the sub-brands U and AD +," the group announced in a statement.

The first six establishments that will become exclusive Adolfo Domínguez stores are those of Fuencarral (Madrid), Málaga, Canarias, Miranda del Ebro (Burgos) and Torrelavega (Cantabria). The plan also includes the comprehensive reform of the flagship of Paseo de Gracia (Barcelona) that will reopen its doors in the fall.

The merger process is aimed at eliminating duplicities in streets and shopping centers, where the group has points of sale of the main brand and sub-brands U and AD +. The objective is to generate efficiencies in various areas of the production system and an improvement in the treasury that will be consolidated, predictably, in the coming years.

Once the process is finished, a single brand, Adolfo Domínguez, will add 416 points of sale in 29 countries. The final number of points of sale in 2018 will be completed with the openings already made since February and those foreseen until the end of the year.

Adolfo Domínguez will cut his staff by 8 percent

As part of the unification of its brands, Adolfo Domínguez will carry out an employment regulation process that foresees affecting a total of 110 employees - 8 percent of the total workforce of the Spanish company.

According to the fashion firm announcement last Friday, the company will initiate a course of collective dismissal, mobility and modification of working conditions for economic, productive and organizational reasons that will affect 110 jobs.

The company has explained that this plan will be done in a "responsible, orderly and consensual" manner, and in accordance with the provisions of labor regulations.

The fashion group had 1,325 employees at the end of the last fiscal year.
