Amazon and John Lewis biggest spenders on paid search

British retailers have been spending 24 percent more on search in the first half of 2016. According to data from AdGooroo, advertisers have spent 26.7 million pounds, compared with 21.6 million pounds a year ago, and Amazon and John Lewis are leading the pack, Campaign.co.uk reports.

Amazon spent 891,000 pounds on 216 keywords, with an average clickthrough rate of 2.8 percent. Apple, in second place, spent 508,000 pounds on 28 keywords, while John Lewis followed hot on its heels with 505,000 pounds on 141 keywords, with an average clickthrough rate of 3 percent.

Among predominantly mobile retailers, the top ten also included DIYdress, an online retailer of formal dresses. The company spent 364,000 on keywords.
