Asos crowned the 'King and Queen' of organic Google search

Fashion e-tailer Asos has been named the top ranking fashion brand on Google for both men's and women's fashion. The British fashion retailer beat out competition from high street department stores such as House of Fraser, Debenhams and John Lewis to claim the number one spot in the newest Fashion Search Performance Report from digital marketing specialists Mediavision.

Asos came in first in both the men's and women's fashion brand ranking, which was compiled by researching and analysing over 2000 popular and commonly used Google search terms related to both fields. Although department stores tend to have solid rank percentages due to vast and consolidated product list which means their linking domain stems from a broad and diverse range of sources, Asos still nabbed the first place spot.

The trendy retailer was followed by House of Fraser in second, Debenhams in third and John Lewis in fourth place. eBay came in fifth, followed by Next, Amazon and M&S in sixth, seventh and eighth place respectively. According to the report, each brand listed in the top 8 were consistent top performers in keyword rankings across fashion search phrase and hold strong onsite optimisation. In addition they also have a large product range and are able to easily play into any seasonal trends they may have.

"The fashion sector remains incredibly crowded therefore cost-effective new customer acquisition remains key to growth," commented Louis Venter, CEO of MediaVision. "One of the best channels to deliver this is through SEO as paid media is getting increasingly expensive year on year and most other channels target existing and not new customers. This report shows the big department stores are consistently winning however it also shows that brands that invest well in SEO are achieving great results and winning market share."
