British ethical fashion brand Beulah London, which counts the Duchess of Cambridge as a fan, has secured 500,000 pounds of investment from venture capital firm Mustard Seed to fund its expansion into the US and other countries.

Beulah London, which opened its first standalone store on London’s Ebury Street last year, was founded in 2010 by Natasha Rufus Isaacs and Lavinia Brennan, out of a desire to design and produce clothes that empower and inspire the women who wear them, whilst being committed to raising awareness of the plight of women trapped by human slavery through its Beulah Trust.

The British label has been recognised for its ethical values as well as its growing global profile, thanks in part to its celebrity following that includes Sarah Jessica Parker and Jessica Alba.

It is hoped that the investment from Mustard Seed, which focuses on social enterprises, will help expand the label into America, which the London-based company states accounts for a quarter of its sales, despite having no formal operations there.

“We want to grow our product ranges, adding more accessories and day dresses,” said co-founder Natasha Rufus Isaacs to The Telegraph. “Expanding into international territories will be key, and our real growth will come from developing our online platform.”
