BHS.com reports sales increase of 23 percent

BHS.com’s sales in the six months ending April 28, 2018, were up 23 percent, boosted by significant increases in visitor numbers and conversion rate. The company said, standout product areas were lighting with rise in sales of 37 percent, home accessories up at 46 percent and women’s sleepwear witnessing a growth of 60 percent.

Commenting on the company’s progress during the six months under review, the company’s Managing Director, Kev Mallinder said in a statement: “Our start-up spirit has really helped us to continue to grow very quickly within a market that is undergoing a huge amount of change. Our size and flexibility mean we can adapt our products and service incredibly quickly and this keeps us in-touch with our customer’s evolving lifestyles.”

Gross profit, BHS.com said, has seen an even bigger increase and over the same six-month period it grew by 69 percent. This rapid improvement in margin, the company added, follows the successful completion of projects including improving warehouse efficiencies, altering product mix and the introduction of more web-ready products.
