London - The four largest online fashion retailers in Europe, namely: Zalando; Vente Privée; Yoox Net a Porter; and Asos enjoyed a strong year in 2015 as their combined turnover accounted for a staggering 8 billion euros, or 6.2 billion pounds.

Each online e-tailer reported an average revenue growth of 21.5 percent last year, according to online platform Emerce, and the recent publication of their fourth quarters for the financial year 2015 highlight the ongoing growth of the European international apparel market.

Zalando, the current leading fashion retailer, enjoyed revenues of 3 billion euros in 2015, up from 2,2 billion euros in 2014. Next up is French flash sale site Vente Privée, which reportedly achieved revenues of 2 billion euros last year, up from 1.7 billion in 2014, followed by the newly formed group of Yoox-Net-a-Porter, reaching 1.7 billion euros in 2015. Lastly comes British fashion pure-player Asos, with an annual revenues of 1.2 billion euros, a modest increase from its revenue of 1 billion euros in 2014.

Whilst Zalando, Asos and Yoox Net-a-Porter witnessed an organic, double digit growth over the past year, privately-held French sales site Vente Privée is said to achieved its growth through a number of acquisitions, such as it purchase of a majority stake in Vente-Exclusive.com last September. In addition, German retailer Zalando reported a 15 percent increase in market value over the past year, and with British fashion retailer Asos witnessing a 14 percent market value growth within a year.
