Farfetch investor Frederic Court has launched a new venture capital firm in London with the aim of helping to fund European digital fashion brands and luxury tech start-ups.
The venture capital firm called Felix Capital launched with a 120 million dollar fund that Court states on the firm’s website will be used to fund the “creative class”, furthering his commitment to the luxury fashion and tech market, after investing in several fashion and digital media start-ups, including Farfetch and French video-sharing platform Dailymotion.
The fund’s initial investments include a further stake in Farfetch and an undisclosed amount in online streetwear brand Rad.
“One of the things we’ve seen in Europe is there is a huge amount of talent coming from the creative industries,” Court told the Financial Times in an interview. “We want to invest in things like fashion, luxury and beauty, and are generally more interested in content and music. We want to work on the heritage we have in Europe in crafting desirable products and services.”
The firm also has a long list of "venture advisers", including Facebook executives David Marcus and Julien Codorniou, who will advise the firm on its portfolio as well as providing their financial backing.
