G-Star Raw moves footwear production in house

Dutch denim label G-Star Raw is set to bring the design and production of its footwear collection in-house. From November 1, 2015 onwards, the brand will take over the shoe collection for both men as well as women from license holder Overland Shoes Limited.

The decision is part of the label's move to strengthen its footwear category by ensuring it has full control over both the design and manufacturing of the shoes. G-Star Raw will create a separate department which will be in charge of designing future footwear ranges. "This way we can make sure that the future collection from G-Star Footwear will reflect our brand philosophy 'Just the product,' as well as the distinctive approach to innovation and craftsmanship," said the Amsterdam-based brand in a press release.

G-Star Raw will also take on full responsibility for the sale of the product from Overland Shoes Limited, as well as full responsibility for the design, development and international distribution of shoes starting with autumn/winter 2016. The label adds that the plan for this transition has been carefully designed to ensure the best involvement with the brand's values and customers.
