A UK government minister, Digital Economy Minister Ed Vaizey, is calling on the public to help him build the country’s digital strategy for the next five years, which is set to seal the UK’s position as a global digital leader and “show the rest of the world how its done.”
The initiative, which will be led by Vaizey, will be revealed early next
year and includes areas such as e-commerce and retail as some of its main
driving forces

"We’ve built a great base — but we need to work hard to make sure we continue to take advantage of the benefits digital transformation has to offer, as an economy and as a society,” wrote Vaizey in an open letter. “Other countries are hot on our heels but we want the UK to be synonymous with digital – a place where digital technologies transform day-to-day life, the economy and government.”
Amongst the initiatives started within the UK’s digital scheme, Vaizey wants the country to be the main place entrepreneurs establish a new business, whether is be one with driverless cars or drones making online deliveries. “Every part of the UK economy and our lives has been digitised – from how we shop and entertain ourselves to the way we travel to work and manage our health," Vaizey continued. “I want the UK to be the default place entrepreneurs want to start new digital business over any other tech hub in the world from Silicon Valley to Shanghai, scaling up to be global brands.”
Those who are interested in contacting Vaizey with their ideas for the UK digital strategy can send an email to digitalstrategy@culture.gov.uk before January 19, 2016.
