Inditex's founder gets paid over 813 million euros in dividends

Amancio Ortega, founder and largest shareholder of Inditex, has been paid more than 813 million euros in dividends from the Zara owner group.

On May 2, shareholders such as Ortega received a dividend of 0.44 euros per share. It is the first payment of the year for Inditex’ shareholders. In the case of Ortega is more than 813 million euros. The second payment for the same amount will take place on November, 4.

In total, the Spanish fashion mogul will receive 1,626.2 million euros this year in concept of dividends from Inditex, almost 300 million more than what he received for the same concept in 2018.

According to the company's announcement in early May, the board of directors will propose to the board, to gather again in July, a new dividend policy. The ordinary dividend will mean a payout of 60 percent of the benefit - against the current 50 percent - and an extraordinary dividend will also be distributed for a total of one euro per share to be collected between 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Thus, 'El Español' points, the dividend will increase 17 percent this year (0.88 euros per share: 0.66 euros as an ordinary dividend and 0.22 euros extraordinary).

Ortega, with a stake worth of 59.294 percent, equivalent to a package of 1,848 million shares, is the largest shareholder of Inditex.
