The global fashion market is currently worth a staggering total of approximately 3 trillion US dollars - that's 3,000 billion US dollars - but what is any dress worth without the bare necessities, aka lingerie, underneath it? As FashionUnited is turning its editorial focus on womenswear this month in honour of the fashion weeks taking place, the sixth installment of FashionUnited’s fashion industry statistics infographic series takes a closer look at the lingerie market.

Did you know that the five largest intimate apparel markets include Dubai and the United Arab Emirates, as well as China? Chinese consumers are becoming more willing to “invest not just in looking good on the surface, but also in buying higher quality, and especially imported, underwear”, according to Matthew Crabbe, Mintel’s director of research for Asia-Pacific.
